Rotary International

The purpose of Rotary International (R.I.) is to encourage, promote, extend, and supervise Rotary throughout the world. The administrative body of R.I. is a Board of Directors consisting of 17 members. with the president of R.I. as the Chairman. The President Elect is also a member of the Board. Every club in the world pays per capita dues to R.I., half of the dues on July 1 and half on January 1. These dues cover the operating expenses of R.I. Headquarters and nine branch offices. Headquarters and the branches provide a great many services to the clubs. The Secretariat staff are very helpful and can provide books, pamphlets, brochures, and leaflets to assist clubs, committees and individual Rotarians. Many of these are free for the asking or are available at a modest price and all are available through our club secretary.

A Club may be disciplined or have its Charter revoked by the R.I. Board of Directors for non-payment of the annual dues or if it fails to function or does not reorganize and become an active club within a given period of time.

While R.I. arranges for and gives general direction for the annual International Convention, the program and detailed operation of the convention is carried out by the host club.

R.I. Headquarters is located at One Rotary Centre, 1560 Sherman Avenue, Evanston, Illinois, 60201, U.S.A. Evanston is a suburb of Chicago. Visitors are always welcome and if you are in that area try to take advantage of the opportunity to visit. Make yourself known to the Service Supervisor serving our District. As you grow in Rotary so will your knowledge of R.I. and its operations around the world.
